I’ve always been a frequent blogger on life, love, and mental health now turned novelist. Behind the Wire is my debut novel.
After a nearly thirty year hiatus while raising my kids in Colorado, I moved back to the tiny Western Nebraska community where I was born and raised. I enjoy daily photography jaunts with my (self-appointed) therapy dog, being ten minutes from my parents, and enjoy frequent visits from my adult children.
Once my youngest went to college, I began brainstorming what all of my extra time and energy could go towards instead of my job as a real estate agent. As if given a gift from the great beyond, I stumbled on a packet of letters written to my grandmother throughout WWII. I decided to use the talents my University of Wyoming English degree had given me (and the encouragement from friends that frequently said “you should write a book”) and turned this story into something more than just a blog entry.
My desire to write was blocked briefly during the creative dearth that was the pandemic but was overcome after drafting my husband’s obituary after he killed himself in March of 2022. I have remained on sabbatical from my real estate business and am writing daily. Currently I’m working on a few new projects.
I’d love to hear from you and use some of your feedback about the book! Even better, I’d love to hear your own stories that you heard from your grandmothers or the dark secrets of your small towns.
Connect with me on any of my socials (linked at the top of the page) and I’ll keep you posted on my next projects. Currently I’m drafting a dark comedy about dating after death (working title) “Self-Inflicted Blind Dating” and a historical fiction about a young boy surviving the Great Depression, The Sugar Tramp Kid
